Wing Chun Chi Sao or Sticking Hands is and advanced Wing Chun Kung Fu training concept.
Wing Chun Chi Sao develops close range fighting skills and sensitivity, enhances close range eye efficiency and quickens contact reflexes.
Contact reflexes can be 3 to 5 times quicker in response than the reactions from the eyes.
Eye reaction time varies from .03 to around 1.0 second, whereas contact reflexes take between 0.15 to around .03 seconds to react.
Hence we can see the advantages of learning and developing this unique skill.
Wing Chun Kung Fu Chi Sao teaches us to find openings by flowing with forward intention (chi or energy) through the point of contact.
When the arms of both participants touch, to find the path with the least resistance through the opponents guard along the center line.
Wing Chun Chi Sao develops such sensitivity and quick reaction to deliver dim mak strikes.
At the point of contact an opponent’s intended move is transmitted as a vibration and our response is a contact reflex action.
Also, when an opponent makes contact through a block their intention can be sensed through directional forces.
Force can only travel in one direction and any one time. At the point of contact the force can remain stationary, so we deal with it.
The force can push forward so we will yield to it.
The force can retract, so we will follow or stick to it and the force can push of the center line, therefore we will go around it as not to fight the force.
Wing Chun Kung Fu Chi Sao is not a style or method of fighting.
It merely an efficient tool or implement used to enhance close range combat prowess.
